Police are investigating a series of violent deaths and fatal incidents reported across several counties, including Kiambu, Migori, Kirinyaga, Kilifi, Meru and Siaya.
In Juja, Kiambu County, a couple was arrested on Wednesday after they reported the death of their three-year-old son.
Police said the boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers who visited the facility established that the child had visible injuries believed to have been caused by beating.
The couple had reported that he died after a fall.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, while the couple was expected to be produced in court.
In Kegonga, Kuria, Migori county, a man strangled and killed a one-year-old girl during a domestic quarrel between him and his mother. Police said he turned his anger on the stepdaughter and killed her.
Officers who responded to the scene moved the body to the mortuary after arresting the suspect. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In Piai, Kirinyaga County, one Mary Njeri Chuka was fatally attacked by a man she was reportedly cohabiting with during a domestic fight.
Police said the suspect was traced to his hideout in Kathanjuri location, where he was arrested pending arraignment for murder.
In Kijipwa, Kilifi County, a man was found dead after falling from the rooftop of a house under construction while attempting to steal materials.
The body of Baraka Haro, 22, was found on the ground at the site after he trespassed with the intention of stealing.
Police said the body had head injuries consistent with a fall and was moved to the mortuary for other procedures.
In Runogone, Meru County, a 48-year-old man was found dead in a house following a fire incident. Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
In Kogelo, Siaya County, tragedy struck a school when a 14-year-old boy drowned in River Yala.
The Grade Seven pupil, together with other pupils, been sent to the river to fetch water for use at the institution.
The pupils are said to have decided to swim before returning to school, during which the victim was swept away by water and drowned. His colleagues raised an alarm in vain.
A search for the body continued on Thursday, with only his clothes recovered from the riverbank.
The incident left the school fraternity in mourning, with locals joining the search team in efforts to recover the body.
Police said the incidents included three drowning cases reported on Wednesday.
