US-based Kenyan content creator Malcom has stirred online debate after calling for action against nominated senator Karen Nyamu following controversial remarks she made during Senate proceedings involving a visiting student.
Malcom, who is known for his humorous commentary and reaction videos, took a more serious tone in a viral video where he criticised the senator’s conduct and questioned the standards expected from public leaders.
“Sad to see a nominated senator, a leader of that calibre and a woman degrade a Grade 10 girl in such a controversial manner,” he said.
The content creator went on to argue that such remarks would have attracted heavier consequences in other countries.
“If it were here in the US, she would have resigned. Every woman should be angry with Nyamu,” he added while calling for action to be taken against the lawmaker.

Kenyans React to Malcom’s Remarks
Malcom’s comments quickly gained traction online, with many Kenyans joining the conversation and sharing mixed reactions about the senator’s conduct.
Some social media users criticised Nyamu’s remarks and questioned how leaders should behave in public institutions, while others argued that the comments may have been intended as humour but were poorly timed.
The incident also reignited debate about professionalism and decorum among public officials.
Senate Speaker Directed Nyamu to Apologise
The controversy began during a Senate session in which Edwin Sifuna invited a female senator to welcome visiting learners to the House.
Karen Nyamu was given the opportunity to address the students, but her comments during the session immediately sparked backlash from fellow lawmakers and members of the public.
The backlash stemmed from comments Nyamu made while welcoming a young learner visiting Parliament under a school programme.
