The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has revised dates for its ward-level grassroots elections in 13 counties, with the affected party members set to participate in the polls in October.
The party’s National Elections Board (NEB), in a notice dated September 24, 2026, said it had reviewed the electoral programme and adjusted the schedule earlier communicated on September 12.
“Following due consideration and deliberations on the electoral programme, the National Elections Board has reviewed and revised the schedule for the Ward-Level Grassroots Elections communicated vide Ref No: UDA/3/NEB/GWL/26,” the notice reads.
The revised dates supersede the previous schedule for the affected counties, with the elections now set to take place on October 2, 3, 16 and 17.
Kisii and Nandi counties will conduct their ward-level grassroots elections on Friday, October 2, according to the revised programme.
Seven other counties will hold their elections the following day, Saturday, October 3. They are Kericho, Baringo, Bungoma, Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir and Mombasa.
The party has set Monday, September 28 at 5 pm as the registration deadline for members in counties scheduled to conduct the elections on October 2 and 3.
UDA will then hold another round of ward-level grassroots elections later in the month.
Samburu county is scheduled to conduct its elections on Friday, October 16, while Tana River, Vihiga, Mandera, Nakuru, Bomet and Tharaka Nithi will hold their polls on Saturday, October 17.
For the counties scheduled to conduct elections on October 16 and 17, the registration deadline has been set for Saturday, October 10 at 5 pm.
The elections will be conducted between 8 am and 5 pm on the respective polling dates.
In the notice, the board urged party members, polling centre officials and other stakeholders affected by the changes to take note of the revised schedule and make the necessary arrangements.
The latest changes form part of UDA’s ongoing grassroots election programme, which is expected to determine party officials at the ward level in the affected areas.
The party has been rolling out grassroots elections as it reorganises its structures ahead of the next phase of its internal activities.
The revised programme means party members in the affected counties will have different timelines depending on the date assigned to their county.
Members in Kisii and Nandi, for instance, will vote earlier than those in Samburu, Tana River, Vihiga, Mandera, Nakuru, Bomet and Tharaka Nithi.
The notice was signed by National Elections Board chairman Anthony Mwaura.
UDA said the new dates replace those previously communicated, making the revised schedule the applicable timetable for the affected counties.
The party’s ward-level grassroots elections are part of its internal electoral processes, through which members participate in selecting or establishing party leadership structures at the grassroots.
