The Russian Embassy in Nairobi has invited Russian citizens residing or visiting Kenya to participate in the election of deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the ninth convocation.
In a notice, the embassy said Russian citizens aged 18 years and above who will be in Kenya on September 20, 2026, will be eligible to cast their ballots at a polling station to be established at the Russian Embassy in Nairobi.
The polling station, located along Lenana Road, will be open from 8am to 8pm on the voting day.
Eligible voters have been urged to present a valid Russian identification document at the polling station before casting their ballots.
“Russian citizens who are 18 years of age and older and will be in Kenya on September 20, are invited to participate in the election,” the embassy said in the notice.
The embassy directed citizens with questions regarding the voting exercise to contact the District Electoral Commission for further information.
The election is scheduled for September 20, 2026, with voting in Russia taking place over three days, from September 18 to 20. The multi-day voting arrangement was adopted by Russia’s Central Election Commission as part of preparations for the parliamentary elections.
The elections will determine the composition of the State Duma, Russia’s lower house of parliament, for the ninth convocation.
Voting will also take place in territories where special security arrangements are in force, including the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Russia’s Central Election Commission has issued separate arrangements for conducting voting in areas under martial law.
The ninth-convocation elections will also feature remote electronic voting in several regions, including Moscow and other parts of the country.
The Central Election Commission has approved the use of federal and regional electronic voting systems, providing eligible voters with an alternative way of participating in the parliamentary elections.
The outcome will determine the composition of the 450-member State Duma and shape Russia’s legislative agenda during the next parliamentary term.
