Safaricom has raised the alarm over fraudulent platforms impersonating its Ziidi Trader investment service, warning Kenyans to exercise caution before parting with any money or personal details. Safaricom warned Kenyans against investing in fake platforms. The telecommunications giant posted the advisory on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, July 17, urging potential investors to take time to verify any platform claiming to offer Ziidi Trader before proceeding. The warning comes against a backdrop of rising cases involving fraudulent investment schemes in Kenya, where scammers increasingly clone or mimic the branding of established financial products to deceive users into depositing funds or surrendering sensitive account information.Safaricom urged all customers to verify any platform thoroughly before entering login credentials or making any financial commitment, noting that a single minute of verification could prevent significant financial loss. “Are you thinking of investing through Ziidi Trader? Take a minute to verify first so you don’t lose your money in vain,” the telecommunications company stated.
Where is the Real Ziidi Trader found? According to Safaricom, the genuine Ziidi Trader product is accessible exclusively through the My OneApp application, listed under the financial services section. The company stressed that any website, link, or social media page offering the service outside of that channel is not affiliated with Safaricom and should be treated as suspicious. “The real Ziidi Trader is available only on Safaricom’s My OneApp under Financial Services,” the company clarified. What is Ziidi Trader? Ziidi Trader is Safaricom’s stock trading feature integrated into My OneApp, allowing users to buy and sell shares listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange directly from their mobile phones. The platform is linked to M-Pesa, enabling seamless funding and withdrawal of investment accounts. To use the legitimate service, customers are required to download or update the My OneApp application, navigate to the Financial Services section, and follow the on-boarding process within the app. Safaricom has not indicated any alternative access point, reinforcing that the app remains the sole authorised entry point.
