Easy Coach Founder and Billionaire Azym Dossa Dies, Kenyans Mourn

The Kenyan transport industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of businessman and Easy Coach founder, Azym Dossa. Easy Coach founder Azym Dossa has been mourned as a visionary leader in the transport sector. Easy Coach management confirmed the former managing director’s demise on Thursday, February 26. His death leaves behind a rich legacy and vision in the long-distance transport sector. “Mr Dossa’s vision, leadership and dedication shaped Easy Coach from its earliest days and left a lasting legacy that will always be part of who we are as a company,” Easy Coach mourned in an official statement.  The company opened its doors in 2003, with a maiden trip to Kisumu on December 18 with one paying passenger. At that time, Easy Coach company had a fleet of three buses. It currently stands tall among the most trusted brands boasting over 30 destinations.

According to Superbrands, Easy Coach transports approximately 1.2 million passengers annually within their network and their annual throughput for parcel and letter shipments is 1.3 million items. It employs over 1000 staff. With sheer determination and experience he gathered from the collapsed Akamba Bus Company where he diligently served as chief financial officer, Dossa’s visionary leadership began to show in three years as Easy Coach expanded to 15 destinations. Today, they proudly run over 100 modern-style buses. Kenyans mourn Easy Coach founder Federation of Public Transport Sector (FPTS) led Kenyans in mourning the towering business giant whom many described as a father and a mentor. FPTS’s condolence message conveyed a deep sense of profound loss. “FPTS mourns the passing of Mr. Azym Dossa, founder of Easy Coach and a true pioneer in Kenya’s transport industry.

His leadership and vision elevated standards of professionalism and service in the Industry. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire Easy Coach team,” the federation eulogised. Gladys Wanga “Mr. Dossa’s death marks a profound loss, not only to his company but to the broader business community. He was a visionary leader whose dedication and strategic direction were instrumental in shaping Easy Coach into a trusted name in public transport.” Moiben Kristin “Father & Mentor fare thee well Sir.” Kevin Muhanji “We started missing him when he quit active involvement. I hope his death reminds you of his vision – timeliness and exemplary service.
