‘I Was Just a Baby’: Fans Rally Behind Miss P After Distressing Social Media Appearance

Kenyan musician Miss P , who first rose to fame through a viral collaboration with Willy Paul and then stepped away from music, has resurfaced on social media in tears to reveal deeply personal struggles from earlier in her career.

Miss P—whose real name is Miss Picante—became widely known in Kenya after featuring on hits under Willy Paul’s Saldido International label, including songs like “Liar” that garnered millions of views.

However, she abruptly quit music a few years ago amid rumours of disputes with her former label and management.

In a recent video screen recorded from her TikTok live, Miss P appeared visibly emotional, repeatedly crying as she spoke about experiences that she says affected her both personally and professionally.
In the clip, she claimed that people took advantage of her when she was “still a baby” — a phrase she used to describe how young and vulnerable she felt at the time.
Although the full video couldn’t be accessed for verbatim quotes, people discussing it online report that her message included statements along the lines of:

“I was so young… and I didn’t know what was happening… people took advantage of me.” (paraphrased based on viewer accounts)

The emotional revelation appears tied to the artist’s departure from music. Miss P had previously cited difficulties working within the industry and disputes with her former label.

She has also been linked to past public claims about her treatment under management, though details have been limited.

Background: Rise to Fame and Break From Music

Miss P first gained major attention after being discovered by Willy Paul in late 2020 and featuring on the hit “Liar” in early 2021.

The song became a viral success on YouTube and across Kenyan social media, placing her in the spotlight practically overnight.

Despite this boost, she later vanished from the music scene amid growing speculation about tensions with her former label and how she was treated behind the scenes.
Many in the industry noted that the young singer had rarely posted music or public updates in the years since her breakout.

Public Reaction and Next Steps

Fans and followers responded with support and concern after clips and reactions to the Instagram post circulated online.

Many praised her courage for speaking out, while others demanded further clarity and transparency from industry figures associated with her early career.
