How to reduce your risk of developing dementia

Dementia refers to a group of diseases that affect memory, thinking, and daily functioning.

Early signs include forgetfulness, losing or misplacing items, confusion in familiar places, getting lost, trouble following conversations, difficulty performing routine tasks, and mood changes like anxiety or sadness.

While age and genetics are risk factors, lifestyle choices can reduce risk.

Regular exercise, a balanced diet, maintaining healthy weight, avoiding smoking and alcohol, keeping the mind active, and controlling blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar help protect brain health.

Awareness and early intervention improve quality of life.
