Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has shared an update on his son, James. Mike Sonko shared an update on his son, James. James was thrust into the spotlight following the tragic loss of his biological father. The young boy witnessed Michael Omworo Ombui, a construction worker, being fatally attacked by suspected thieves in Mathare 4A in January 2025 while escorting him to school. How did Sonko adopt James? After Ombui’s burial in Kisii county and Sonko’s adoption of James, the child initially refused to attend school due to intense trauma and fear that the killers might target him next. Through persistent support and therapy, James overcame his fears. In May, Sonko shared the good news of James starting at a new school, posting photos of the boy looking sharp in his red sweater, grey shorts, red socks, and black shoes, sitting confidently, standing with a smile, and walking into school with his bag. How is Sonko’s son Jams doing? In the video posted on Friday, January 23, James was seen seated on a chair in Sonko’s office.
The floor featured a red carpet. Sonko’s love for golden colours was evident as the conference-style table had a gold finish, as well as other items in the room. James, with a phone in hand, donned a matching denim jacket and trousers. “You are seated on my chair- you are the boss,” Sonko said. He then showed James the TV screen, which was showing the news, with President William Ruto speaking.
“Yule ni rais wa Kenya. Mheshimiwa Kasongo,” Sonko said and urged James to repeat what he said. “I am not Kasongo – he is the Kasongo.” James then said that he wanted to watch Ruto via his phone, and Sonko connected him to the Wi-Fi. In the comments section, social media users noted that the little boy had grown. Here are some of the reactions: 💫Miss Jojo: “I was so emotional until I saw the way he’s wearing shoes.” Aminemy Nyaboke: “Baby James is handsome.” kisaika narok: Mike Sonko, please help me.
