Relationship Missteps: 5 Kenyan Celebrities Who Took Responsibility Online

Following Dorea Chege’s public apology to her husband DJ Dibul, several other Kenyan celebrities have similarly issued public apologies, using social media and other platforms to take responsibility for personal relationship missteps and address controversies in their private lives.

Examples include comedian Mulamwah and his former partner Carol Sonnie, media personality Sarah of Sarah & Kabu, comedian 2Mbili, and Karangu Muraya, all of whom have issued public apologies or clarifications that were widely discussed online.

Dorea Chege’s Public Address

Following recent remarks she described as “cruel” and “wrong,” actress and media personality Dorea Chege issued a public apology to her husband, DJ Dibul, acknowledging her conduct and expressing profound regret.

In her statement, Chege took full personal responsibility, emphasising the need to be transparent in addressing her error and committed to learning from the experience.

She told her husband and the public that she was “really, really, really, extremely sorry” and pledged that the behaviour would not recur.

Mulamwah and Carol Sonnie

Comedian and content creator David “Mulamwah” Oyando publicly apologised to his former partner, Carol Sonnie, in posts shared on his social media accounts.

In the apology, Mulamwah acknowledged Sonnie and expressed regret for the way events unfolded in their relationship.

“I had a beautiful marriage until you came. I did not know you were coming to finish me. I am so sorry Carol, though it is water under the bridge now,” he shared on his social accounts.

Comedian 2Mbili also made headlines when he publicly apologised to his partner, Jackie Ogaga, after acknowledging mistakes in their relationship.

In a heartfelt video shared online on Monday, January 12th, 2026, the entertainer addressed Jackie directly, admitting to past mistakes and expressing a desire for peace as he steps into a new chapter of his life at 33.

“I just want to apologise to her and tell her I’m sorry for everything .It has not been an easy ending for 2025,” he said.”

 

His apology, shared via social media and covered widely on celebrity news platforms, expressed regret for his conduct and a desire for peace and reconciliation within the relationship.

Media personality Sarah, part of the duo Sarah & Kabu, issued a public apology to her husband and family on Instagram after a distressing online rant in which she suggested their marriage was over.
