The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Holdings Ltd has appointed Francis Miano as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, following the exit of former CEO Wilson Muthaura, who has proceeded on terminal leave.
In a statement issued on Friday, KTDA Holdings Chairman Chege Kirundi said Miano assumes the role effective January 16, 2026.
“Eng Miano brings extensive experience and deep institutional knowledge to the role,” Kirundi said.
“The Board is confident in his ability to provide steady leadership as the organisation transitions.”
Miano, a registered professional engineer, has served within KTDA for several years and currently heads the Group Technical Services Division.
He is also a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and has more than 30 years of professional and managerial experience.
KTDA said his technical background and longstanding involvement in the organisation position him well to steer the agency as it continues implementing operational and strategic reforms across the tea value chain.
“The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to Muthaura for his dedicated service to the organisation and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” Kirundi added.
Muthaura’s departure marks the latest leadership change at KTDA, which oversees the management of more than 600,000 smallholder tea farmers through its network of factories and subsidiaries.
The agency has in recent years undertaken reforms aimed at improving earnings, enhancing governance, and strengthening efficiency across production and marketing.
KTDA noted that the leadership transition would not affect ongoing operations and assured farmers and stakeholders of continued service delivery.
