Baby Mama Fires Back After Obinna Claimed She Secretly Removed Contraception

Kenyan content creator and comedian Oga Obinna has found himself under renewed public scrutiny following comments he made about the circumstances surrounding the birth of his fifth child, remarks that later drew a response from the child’s mother, Tallie.

The issue emerged during a video interview with actress Naomi Kuria, where Obinna was questioned about his relationship status and whether he was romantically involved with anyone while another woman was pregnant with his child.

The question prompted Obinna to explain how he came to learn about the pregnancy and eventual birth of his daughter.

According to Obinna, he did not plan to have another child at the time. He claimed that he and Tallie had previously discussed family planning and that she was expected to be on contraception.

He further stated that he later discovered she had allegedly stopped using birth control without informing him.

Obinna told Naomi that he only became aware of the pregnancy much later and said he was informed through a third party.

He added that he had not been in contact with Tallie for several months before and after the pregnancy, insisting he was unaware of what was happening at the time.

“We could have been a beautiful couple,” Obinna remarked during the interview, a comment that sparked additional online discussion.

Tallie Responds to Obinna’s Claims

Following the circulation of the interview clips online, Tallie addressed the matter during a live social media session, expressing discomfort with Obinna’s repeated public explanations about the pregnancy.

She said the ongoing discussions were shifting attention away from their daughter and placing unnecessary focus on the circumstances of her conception.

Tallie stated that she would prefer her child to be recognised for who she is, rather than being constantly associated with narratives surrounding how she was conceived. She added that the continuous public discourse had created a situation where the child’s identity risked being overshadowed by controversy.

She also revealed that she had made a deliberate decision to keep her daughter off social media, citing concerns about online safety and the exposure of young children on digital platforms.

According to Tallie, any future public appearance of her child would be carefully considered.

Obinna Defends Speaking Out

In response to the criticism, Obinna maintained that he was compelled to explain himself after being directly questioned during the interview.

He reiterated that his comments were not volunteered unprompted and said he felt the need to clarify his position once the issue was raised publicly.

He further stated that he has since acknowledged the child and is involved as a parent, though he did not go into further detail about their current co-parenting arrangement.

Online Reaction

The exchange between Obinna and Tallie triggered mixed reactions on social media. Some users criticised Obinna for discussing private family matters publicly, while others debated the claims around family planning and responsibility.

Several commenters supported Tallie’s decision to prioritise her child’s privacy, while others felt Obinna was justified in explaining himself after being put on the spot.
