Betty Kyallo Reveals Relatable Pregnancy Struggles: Hip Pain, 4 a.m. Hunger, and Sleep Loss

TV47 journalist Betty Kyallo has offered her followers a candid and humorous look into her pregnancy journey. Through a series of Instagram Stories, the popular media personality shared the physical hurdles and relatable moments she is experiencing alongside her husband, Charlie Jones.

Kyallo, who has long been a staple of Kenyan television, used the social media platform to connect with other expectant mothers.

She revealed that despite this being her second pregnancy, much of the experience feels entirely new to her.

Midnight Cravings and Restless Nights

The journalist did not shy away from the less glamorous side of expecting. She highlighted the persistent physical discomfort that often accompanies the later stages of pregnancy. Specifically, she noted the struggle with hip pain and a significant lack of sleep.

“Pregnant mothers, can we talk about losing sleep, 4 a.m. hunger, and hip pain at night. I don’t remember this part,” she said.

She joked about the need for a support system during these early hours.

She even suggested opening a dedicated chat group so that expectant mothers awake at odd hours could have someone to talk to.

The Cuddle Struggle

One of the more light-hearted revelations involved the couple’s attempt to navigate their sleeping arrangements. Kyallo explained that she tried using a pregnancy pillow, but found it created a physical barrier between her and Charlie Jones.

She noted that the large pillow made cuddling very difficult, even when they attempted to use the pillow together. Eventually, she abandoned the specialized gear.

She opted for a standard pillow between her thighs to maintain knee-to-knee contact with her husband.

While she struggled to find a comfortable position, she noted with a hint of irony that her husband, Charlie, had no such issues.

“Halafu hapa Charlie ni snoring tu,” she added, highlighting that he was fast asleep while she remained awake.

A “First-Time” Experience

Kyallo reflected on how much she had forgotten since her first pregnancy. Because a significant amount of time has passed since she was last expectant, she remarked that it feels as though she is going through the process for the very first time.

She listed frequent bathroom trips as a major disruption to her rest. In a humorous exaggeration of the “stats” of her pregnancy, she claimed she was peeing “76,000 times in one night.”

Embracing “Pregnancy Privilege”

Despite the broken sleep and physical aches, the TV47 star remains in high spirits. She expressed gratitude for the journey, stating that God is Good.

She also spoke about the “pregnancy privilege” that allows her to enjoy the period without feeling external pressure.

Kyallo appears to be taking the journey in her stride, even joking about the future. She quipped about her child eventually becoming a teenager and giving her “attitude,” after she spent her nights searching for food to sustain them.

For now, however, she is focused on enjoying the process with a “hakuna pressure” (no pressure) attitude.
