Kenya Railways has announced a temporary suspension of the Limuru commuter train service scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the corporation said the morning and evening trains that operate between Nairobi Central Station and Limuru will not be available due to what it described as “unavoidable circumstances.”
The agency did not disclose the specific cause of the interruption but noted that normal operations will resume on Monday, January 12, 2026.
The Limuru service is one of the key commuter routes under the Nairobi Commuter Rail Service.
The suspension is expected to affect passengers who rely on the train for daily travel between Nairobi and Kiambu County. Kenya Railways advised commuters to seek alternative transport for the affected day and apologised for the inconvenience.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the notice signed by the Managing Director stated.
Passengers seeking clarification were directed to contact the corporation through its official customer service numbers: 0709 907 000 and 0709 907 555, or via email at info@krc.co.ke.
Additional updates will be provided on the Kenya Railways website and official social media platforms.
