My name is David from Thika, Kenya, and for many years my life was marked by rejection and humiliation. I come from a large family, and growing up, we were taught that family should stand together no matter the situation. Sadly, that belief was tested when my life took a difficult turn. When I was poor and struggling, the very people I called family turned their backs on me.After finishing school, nothing worked for me. I tried small businesses, casual jobs, and even farming, but everything failed. I moved from place to place looking for opportunities.
During this time, my relatives started avoiding me. Family meetings were held without inviting me. When I visited, I was treated like a burden. Some openly told me I would never succeed. Eventually, I was completely disowned and told not to come back until I “made it in life.”Life became extremely hard. I slept in friends’ houses, skipped meals, and lived day by day. What hurt me most was not the poverty, but the rejection. I watched family members help others while I was ignored. Still, I refused to give up. I believed my life had a purpose, even if I could not see it at that time.
