Kenyan content creator and digital influencer Keranta Chege has surprised her followers by documenting the emotional process of shaving off her signature dreadlocks.
Known for her vibrant personality and long-term relationship with comedian Flaqo Raz, Keranta’s hair has been a central part of her brand for half a decade.
The Decision to Release
In a reflective social media update, Keranta shared that the move was about more than just a change in style. She described the act as a symbolic transition as she prepares to enter the new year.
“Five years lived through these locs. Today, I choose release over attachment, renewal over fear, and trust over familiarity,” she wrote.
The creator expressed that she is “not afraid of starting again” and signaled her readiness for 2026 with a bold new look.
The Transformation at the Barbershop
Keranta took her fans inside the barbershop to witness the transformation firsthand. Clips from the session show her seated in a salon chair, draped in a bright red and black protective cape.
Her long, dark locs reached well past her shoulders before the first cut was made.
The process was captured vividly in a series of images. In one poignant mirror selfie, Keranta holds a thick bundle of her severed locs in front of her face, showcasing the sheer volume of hair she has carried for five years.
Behind her, the salon environment—complete with hair dryers and specialized lighting—serves as the backdrop for her “renewal”.
The Final Look
Following the big chop, Keranta debuted a sophisticated short hairstyle. The final transformation features a neatly cropped, natural TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) with soft curls.
In her reveal photo, she appeared radiant, sporting a denim Louis Vuitton-patterned jacket over a red hoodie. Her makeup was expertly done with pink-toned eyeshadow and a neutral lip, accentuating her new features.
