Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone has taken a moment to reflect on a difficult chapter in his life, marking one year since he battled a serious illness that left him bedridden.
In an emotional Instagram post shared during the festive season, the Leone Island boss opened up about how close-knit support and prayer helped him pull through one of the hardest moments of his life.
“Exactly one year ago today I was bedridden and fighting to get well,” Chameleone wrote, recalling the period when his health took a worrying turn. “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who prayed for me and stood by me through that difficult time.”
The celebrated singer went on to acknowledge the overwhelming support he received from fans, friends and family, crediting their prayers, visits and constant encouragement for giving him strength when he needed it most.
“To my family and friends, I’m so grateful for your love and support,” he added.
Chameleone also paid special tribute to philanthropist Juliet Zawedde and her family, thanking them for the care and compassion they showed him during his recovery journey.
“And a very special thank you to Juliet Zawedde and family for the amazing care, kindness and strength she showed me when I needed it most. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you all.”

Closing his message on a hopeful note, the singer wished his followers well during the holiday season, extending warm Christmas and New Year greetings.
Chameleone had been hospitalized in Uganda late last year before being transferred to the US for further treatment.
At the time, he updated his fans about his health.
This festive season marks a first for me – spending it away from the stage and away from all of you, my beloved fans. Unfortunately, my hospitalization has disrupted our annual tradition of celebrating together through music.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the promoters who have consistently believed in me and to the fans who have always shown up to support me.
Unfortunately, I’ll be taking a temporary break from performing until I’ve made a full recovery. I’m deeply thankful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well-wishes from my fans, friends, and family during my hospital stay.
I also appreciate the exceptional care I received from Nakasero Hospital. A special thank you to my dear friend Juliet Zawedde, who selflessly sacrificed her holiday to accompany me to the United States for further treatment.
