Digital content creator Gloria Ntazola has sparked conversation online after revealing that she made the difficult decision to distance herself from her family.
Speaking candidly in a recent post on her Instagram, Gloria shared that years of one-sided relationships and constant financial demands had left her emotionally exhausted and deeply hurt.
“So today I am going to make a very harsh decision, I am blocking all my family members, starting from my mum, my dad, my brothers and my sisters,” she wrote.
Emotional Strain and Unreciprocated Effort
In her revelation, Gloria explained that her decision did not come lightly but was born out of repeated disappointment.
She described feeling used and unappreciated, saying that most of her family members only reached out when they needed money or favors, but rarely cared to check on her well-being.
“I realized my relatives only contact me when they need money. No one asks if I’m doing okay or how life is treating me. It’s emotionally draining,” she shared.
According to Gloria, the constant cycle of giving without emotional support took a toll on her mental health, leading her to prioritize her peace and boundaries.
Taking Back Control
The influencer emphasized that stepping back from family interactions was an act of self-care, not bitterness.
She noted that emotional boundaries are necessary when relationships become toxic or draining, adding that she hopes her story inspires others to protect their peace.
“You can love people from a distance. I still care for my family, but I’ve learned that peace of mind comes first,” she said.
Her message resonated with many followers who related to her experience of being the “strong one” or “provider” in family settings, where emotional reciprocity is often lacking.
Public Reactions and Support
Gloria’s openness sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms. Many users applauded her for speaking out about a common but often unspoken reality in Kenyan families.
Others shared similar experiences of dealing with relatives who take advantage of their generosity.
Mental health advocates also praised her for addressing emotional exhaustion — an issue increasingly linked to strained family expectations and economic pressures.
