Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, recently sat down for a revealing rapid Q&A session with SPM Buzz.
The government official shared surprising insights into his personal life, career goals, and daily routine. Most notably, he confessed that he has never gone through certain common life experiences.
He revealed he has never suffered a heartbreak.

The Missing ‘Challenge’
When asked about the cause of his worst heartbreak, Mr Itumbi offered a surprising answer. He stated simply, “Never had a heartbreak”.
He even suggested that never experiencing heartbreak and a related second experience are “a challenge” he still needs to face. He joked that “somebody should do them”.
“I’ve just never had a heartbreak na sijawahi kuliwa fare. I think those two things are a challenge. Somebody should do them.”
Mentorship and Major Goals
Mr Itumbi’s professional life is shaped by two high-profile mentors. He explained that President Uhuru Kenyatta mentored him on aspects of public service.

Meanwhile, he credits President William Ruto with teaching him “how to get it done”.
His current biggest professional goal focuses on the creative economy. Mr Itumbi aims to secure 80% pay for musicians. He admitted he might initially deliver 70%, but 80% remains his target.
He is also focused on his personal ambition. He is currently back in school studying law, fulfilling his dream career from when he was growing up.
The Daily Grind
Mr Itumbi follows a rigorous daily routine. He usually wakes up around 5:30 am. He immediately focuses on a steps challenge he shares with friends. His goal is to reach 10,000 steps before his friends wake up.
From 6 am to 7 am, he dedicates an hour to reading a book. After 7 am or 8 am, depending on the day, he reports to his office. This quiet time is used to complete assignments.

Relationships and Painful Memories
Regarding his love life, Mr Itumbi stated that he would choose to date a friend. He described this as “someone I can bring in my circle or someone in my circle”.
He also addressed a persistent public misconception about his relationships. He noted that people still believe he is dating Jacque Maribe.
The official also reflected on his lowest moments. He recalled crying in 2022. This emotional moment came during treatment following his kidnapping. He described the process of having nails removed from his body as “very painful”.

This was because screw tools were used during the removal. He said he posted about this painful experience on Instagram or YouTube.
He also cited his lowest moment as when he was arrested and charged for reprogramming a phone. When discussing how he approaches relationships financially, Mr Itumbi noted that he would “give 100%”.
