Traders at Runyenjes market have called on Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire to urgently intervene in what they describe as unfair treatment and confusion surrounding the operation of the newly constructed New Canaan Market.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the traders urged all business owners to adhere to an earlier public participation agreement held at Runyenjes Social Hall.

According to the traders, the agreement stipulated that retail traders would relocate to the new market while wholesalers with stalls remain at the old market side.

The traders accused local leaders of allegedly dividing the traders by declaring that the market is open to everyone, a statement that is contrary to the agreement.

They have vowed to withhold tax payments until their grievances are addressed.

Additionally, the traders urged Simba to desist from interfering in market affairs, stating that those currently in office should be allowed to handle the matter and advising him to wait for his turn to lead.
