Tanzanian music icon Alikiba has made an emergency trip to Nairobi, Kenya. The acclaimed star landed this week to mourn the passing of a figure known widely across East Africa.
The figure being mourned is the revered Kenyan politician, Raila Odinga. Odinga is recognised across the continent and globally as a major statesman and a champion of human rights and political justice.
East Africa Unites in Sorrow
Speaking to entertainment journalists upon arrival, Alikiba confirmed his journey was successful. However, he noted the pervasive atmosphere of sorrow in the country.

“Japokuwa tuna majonzi lakini sio mbaya nimekuja tuomboleze kwa pamoja,” he stated. He came to mourn collectively because he knows happiness is currently absent for many.
The musician observed the sadness evident on the faces of Kenyans.
“Baba has left us,” Alikiba remarked, acknowledging the deep impact of the loss.
Alikiba is believed to be the first major Tanzanian artist to travel to Kenya specifically for the mourning period. He assured the press that he was representing the feelings of his home country.
Why Alikiba Dropped Everything
Alikiba explained that the loss is felt profoundly in Tanzania too. He offered sincere condolences to the Kenyan people.
The statesman, he explained, was a major figure who was globally recognised, not just within Kenya or Africa.

The politician’s connection to Tanzania was strong. He had often visited the country. This relationship ensures that Tanzanian people have been deeply affected by the loss.
The star revealed he felt an urgent, personal call to travel. He noted that he felt directed to come. He stressed that though the timing was difficult, he felt compelled to make the trip.
Personal Memories and Legacy
Alikiba confirmed he had shared personal moments with the leader. He revealed that he possesses photographs of them together.
He recalled receiving counsel and advice from the politician. The meeting had been very charming.
“There are photos of him seated with me. Pia nilishawahi kuzungumza naye akanihusia vitu, sikuweza kujua kama ako charming na nini lakini hiyo siku nimekutana naye it was very charm yaani unaelewa ukiwa umekutana na mtu mzima anakuwa anakushauri vitu tu anakujenga,” Alikiba recalled.
Alikiba noted that encountering the elder meant receiving wisdom and guidance aimed at constructive development.

To honour this great legacy, Alikiba announced a dedicated event. He confirmed he would dedicate his entire show scheduled for Sunday to communal mourning.
Alikiba encouraged the public to join him on Sunday. He explained that after the statesman has been laid to rest (‘kumsitiri mzee’), the nation must begin to wipe away its tears.
The upcoming Sunday show is intended to facilitate this healing process. “That’s all we need,” Alikiba concluded, thanking the journalists for their time.
