Raila Odinga: Ogande Girls High School Students Break Down After Learning of Politician’s Death

Students of Ogande Girls High School and their teachers have wailed in great pain after their principal announced the death of former prime minister Raial Odinga in India. After weeks of speculation, Kenyans finally learnt that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader was dead on October 15, and the country was immediately thrown into mourning. In a video shared by Edgar Odhiambo, the headteacher of the girls’ school is seen emotionally breaking the news of Raila aka Baba’s death to the students during a morning assembly.

How did the teachers at Ogande Girls High school react? “We have very sad news in Kenya this morning; that is why you see the teachers are not very happy, and I was unable to dance well today. I would want to say, that Baba Raila is dead,” she said. Ogande Girls High School gate. As soon as the words were out of her mouth, the students were shocked and made noise in unison. It was not easy to calm them as they were wailing, holding onto their heads, and starting to walk away. “The atmosphere quickly turned somber as students are seen in disbelief, some holding their heads while others began to cry. The teacher, struggling to hold back tears, urged the learners to stay calm and pray for the nation during this difficult moment,” said Odhiambo. How did Kenyans react to the story? After his interview landed on social media, it caused great laughter among the masses despite the tough mourning period for most Kenyans.
