US-based Kenyan gospel artist Benson Ongachi, popularly known as Benachi, has opened up about his marriage journey, revealing that he tied the knot with his wife just three months after they first met.
Speaking in an interview with radio host Alex Mwakideu on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the Mwanake hitmaker recalled how his trip to the United States for a music tour ended up changing his life.
Benachi said he had travelled to the U.S. after receiving an invitation to perform at the prestigious Talanta Awards. Initially, his plan was to stay until the end of the year before returning to Kenya. However, by December, just months after arriving, he was already a married man.
“I arrived in the States in July and met my wife in October. We courted for three months, and by December, we were married. It happened quickly, but we are still together,” Benachi shared.

The gospel musician explained that while many people believe relationships need years of dating to mature into marriage, he holds a different view. “It’s not a must to date for years before settling down. Sometimes love flows naturally and everything falls into place,” he said.
How They Met
Benachi further revealed that his love story began in church during his U.S. tour. Despite his initial intention to return home after the scheduled performances, meeting his wife changed everything.
“We met in church while I was on tour. I was actually supposed to come back home after my shows, but things just flowed naturally between us,” he recalled.

According to him, their connection was instant and strong, making the decision to marry feel right despite the short time frame. He emphasized that the strength of a marriage is not determined by how long two people date but by the bond they share and their commitment to making the relationship work.
Today, years later, Benachi and his wife remain happily married, standing as a testament to his belief that love does not always follow timelines or societal expectations.
