The recent drama surrounding Mugithi singer Waithaka wa Jane’s arrest in Germany has dominated social media discussions, dragging musicians, promoters, and industry insiders into a heated debate. Samidoh responded to an events promoter who accused him of being greedy. Among those caught in the crossfire is Samidoh, who was recently targeted by a promoter making bold claims about his career. Why did Waithaka’s arrest spark drama? Waithaka was detained at the airport in Germany, with early reports suggesting he was suspected of possessing drugs. Subsequent reports indicated that the arrest may have been linked to visa complications, following the cancellation of his planned performance by the promoter.
An events promoter, going by the name Maina, chimed in on the debate initially advising the public not to make allegations about Waithaka’s predicament without accurate information. Did a promoter make Samidoh famous? However, his caution quickly turned into a scathing attack on musicians, singling out Samidoh. Maina claimed he had helped the singer gain international fame by securing gigs and giving him industry connections. He alleged that Samidoh had betrayed him by cancelling a planned event in Germany to perform in Juba just five days before the show. He went further, claiming that Samidoh is greedy for money, even going as far as hurling insults at him. Samidoh shared advice with a promoter who claimed to have made him famous.
How did Samidoh respond to Maina? Responding to the viral allegations on social media, Samidoh questioned the promoter’s notion that professional help implied that they were tied to always working together.: “Starting a conversation with an artiste doesn’t mean you are in a marriage setup. You said I was never known, and you made me popular. If I may ask, how did you know I existed and am not one of your family members? It would be wise of you to make yourself or any of your kin popular before you extend the same grace,” he said. Samidoh further defended his decision to perform in Juba, explaining that visa delays made it impossible to perform in Germany.
“It is foolish of you to start advertising a show before the visa is out. That will cost you big,” he said. He also dismissed claims that he is greedy for money, even recalling a meeting where he had footed the bill for the promoter and his wife’s lunch. The singer also mocked the promoter’s claim that he was the key link to his German gigs, noting that he had already performed in Germany three times without any help from him. “You are an opportunist using another man’s misfortune to gain fame. Issues zenyu as promoters hakuna mahali artiste anakujia honestly,” Samidoh added.
