Funnyman YY, who has recently been in the spotlight for his noticeably leaner physique, has revealed the surprising reason behind his transformation: heartbreak.
In a candid interview with Shiksha Arora on YouTube, the comedian confirmed that emotional pain was a major catalyst for his fitness journey.
From Pain to Progress
When asked by Shiksha if heartbreak had motivated his gym journey, YY was refreshingly honest. “What is the problem with that? Yes, it does,” he said with a laugh. “Are we going to lie about that? Let us not lie. It does.”
He explained that channelling his feelings into fitness was both therapeutic and empowering. The gym gave him a renewed sense of control and a healthy way to process his emotions.
“Gym has a feel-good effect at the end of it. You leave feeling good.”
YY noted that every single workout gave him a sense of accomplishment, providing a positive outlet during a difficult time.
A Journey of Self-Improvement
Now weighing in at 82kg, down from nearly 100kg, YY has set a personal goal to get down to 78kg and build more muscle. He’s also switched up his lifestyle, maintaining a strict diet that includes intermittent fasting and only allowing himself a small portion of sugar once a week.
YY’s honesty has resonated with many fans online who also shared similar stories of how emotional pain can push people towards self-improvement, whether it’s through fitness, career growth, or new personal ventures.
The interview also shed light on other parts of his life. He admitted that he once ended a relationship because the woman he was dating didn’t make her bed, and that he earned a staggering KSh 6 million from a single campaign.
For YY, what started as a difficult emotional moment has become a story of resilience. His new physique is a symbol of healing and a reminder that personal struggles can be turned into motivation for growth.
