Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress, has brushed off claims that her boyfriend, Michael Mwangi, is cheating on her.
The couple went public with their relationship a few months after Kate’s divorce from film director Phil Karanja.
Since then, they’ve often shared affectionate posts that have drawn admiration and, at times, scrutiny. Recently, blogger Edgar Obare’s anonymous Q&A session on Instagram sparked fresh speculation, with some fans alleging Michael was unfaithful and linked to younger women.
Kate, however, appeared unbothered. While on a baecation in Bangkok, Thailand, with Michael, she shared photos and videos celebrating their love.
In one post, she cheekily wrote: “Sasa wacha mimi na my beard man tusumbue abroad… #Loved&WellKept.” In another, showing the couple dining with a city skyline in the background, she made it clear she wouldn’t tolerate mistreatment.
“Na muachane na haka kamzee kangu… kakinitesa nitatoroka tu (Leave my man alone. If he mistreats me, I will just leave). Love it here.”
On “Moving On Fast”
Earlier this year, some critics suggested Kate moved on too quickly after her divorce. She clarified that her relationship with Michael had begun quietly long before it was made public.
“No boo, we’re just not in the group chat… bye,” she quipped in response to one comment. Kate and Phil announced the end of their five-year marriage in September 2023. They share a daughter together.
Love After Divorce
Kate has previously spoken about her decision to give love a second chance after her separation from Phil.
In August 2024, she posted a TikTok of herself and Michael swimming with turtles in Zanzibar, captioning it: “The second time is a charm. Blessed. Should we continue or leave it here?” Fans interpreted the post as her way of affirming that this relationship was special.
Celebrating Michael
In that same month of August, Kate surprised Michael with a birthday treat in Zanzibar.
Sharing a romantic clip of the two holding hands at a luxury beach resort, she wrote: “Paradise called and we answered! 🏝️ … Bday month! Allow me to spoil you back a little, sir!” The post drew admiration from fans, who praised the couple’s chemistry and the stunning location.
