Wekesa hopes to bring midfield dynamism to Tusker’s campaign

Curtis Wekesa has set his sights on adding depth and drive to Tusker’s midfield after sealing a one-year deal with the brewers, becoming the latest recruit in Charles Okere’s summer rebuild.‎

‎Wekesa, who caught the eye with two stellar campaigns for Posta Rangers, becomes the latest piece in Charles Okere’s reshaped jigsaw as the brewers gear up for a fresh title charge in the upcoming season.‎

‎Tusker were firmly in the mix for a record-extending 14th league crown last season but unravelled in the second half of the campaign.

‎They eventually finished fourth on 57 points.

‎‎Police FC stormed to a historic maiden title with 65, while Gor Mahia (59) and Kakamega Homeboyz (58) edged the brewers out of the podium places.

‎Determined to avoid a repeat, Tusker have been one of the busiest clubs in the window, snapping up key signings ahead of the season.

‎Some of the key recruits include forward Eric Kapaito, creative midfielder Yakeen Muteheli, right-back Eugene Ikutwa, forward Dennis Ochieng, midfielder Vincent Otieno, playmaker David Polepole, defender Francis Oduor and shot stopper Brandon Obiero.

‎”Wekesa, who has been a key figure for the mailmen in the last two seasons, joins the brewers as head coach Charles Okere looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign,” the statement from the club read.

‎Renowned for his pace, direct runs and eye for goal, Wekesa is expected to bring fresh energy and competition to Tusker’s frontline.

‎‎Speaking after sealing the move, Wekesa, 26, was delighted to join one of the country’s most successful clubs.

‎‎“I am really excited to join Tusker FC. This is a big club with great history and ambition, and I am ready to give my best to help the team achieve its targets this season,” Wekesa said.

‎Okere welcomed the new signing, noting that Wekesa’s arrival will strengthen the squad as the team prepares for both domestic and continental assignments.

‎“Curtis is a player we have monitored closely, and we are happy to bring him on board. His qualities will be important for us, and we believe he will fit well into the team,” Okere noted.

‎Wekesa arrives with a wealth of experience, having previously turned out for some of the country’s biggest names, including Sony Sugar, Nairobi Stima, Gor Mahia, KCB, Wazito and Mathare United.
