Activist and leader of the INJECT party, Morara Kebaso, has announced an extraordinary decision to refund all financial contributions made to his “vampire diaries” initiative.
The move comes as Kebaso seeks to safeguard his reputation and address public perceptions that the funds were tied to his aspirations for political leadership.
The Refund Announcement
In a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Morara Kebaso publicly declared his intention to return monies collected. His pinned tweet, shared just 20 hours ago, stated: “If you need a refund for any contribution you made to me when i was raising funds kindly reply below with the Mpesa message or check your Mpesa statement and recover the Mpesa ref. code.”
Kebaso clarified the underlying motivation for this unprecedented step: “I would like to refund any Kenyan that may have thought that the contributions were a motivation for me seek leadership.”
He further added, “We do not value money above our reputation. If you feel your donation was a con or robbery, comment with the Mpesa Message or Mpesa Ref. Code, we will refund you publicly.”
The refund process is scheduled to run for the next three days.
