Githeri Man, Nduru Man Where Are They Now? Kenyan TikTok Stars Who Went Viral Then Quiet

In Kenya, TikTok fame can come in a flash—and disappear just as fast. A catchy phrase, a viral dance, or even a random moment can turn an ordinary person into a household name. But keeping the momentum is another matter.

Here’s a look at some Kenyan creators who once ruled TikTok and the viral scene but have since gone quiet.

1.Bena wa Malines

Bena Wa Malines became popular for his funny facial expressions and skits about life in Nairobi estates. His phrase “Pulaia maisa mehn” went viral because many people found it relatable.

He worked with big brands and was interviewed by popular media. Bena was very active online until around mid-2024.

Since then, he hasn’t posted as much. Some fans think he may be tired or going through burnout, while others believe there could be problems with his management team.

2.Githeri Man

Martin Kamotho became famous in 2017 when a photo of him eating githeri while voting went viral. Within days, he was:

-Invited to State House

-Gifted clothes, land, and even awards

-Made into a cultural icon

But the fame didn’t last. Kamotho faced addiction struggles and now keeps a low profile, occasionally appearing at public events.

3. Nduru Man

Who could forget the high-pitched screams in malls, police stations, and random offices? Nduru Man became known for bold (and borderline outrageous) public stunts.

-His clips drew millions of views

-He was featured in media interviews

-Created a full trend around “screaming content”

But the gag wore thin. He hasn’t posted anything viral in a while and has largely disappeared from timelines.

4. Priscilla Wa Imani

Priscilla’s loud whistle and public shout-outs made her a TikTok star overnight.

-She whistled her way into partnerships and brand deals

-Fans loved her unapologetic energy

-Her videos became popular in both Kenya and abroad

By early 2025, though, her uploads became less frequent. She still posts occasionally, but the viral heat has cooled.

5. Maria (Yasmin Said)

Yasmin stole hearts as the lead in Citizen TV’s Maria. When the show ended, many expected her to jump into brand endorsements or more acting gigs.

Instead:

-She opted for privacy over publicity

-Rarely engages on social media

-Hasn’t taken up any new acting roles

“Fame was never the goal. I just want to live a normal life,” she once said in an interview.

6. Cartoon Comedian

Cartoon Comedian, real name Vanessa Akinyi, blew up with her street-style skits and energetic delivery. She was one of TikTok’s top creators in 2022–2023.

Then came the shift:

-She entered a public relationship with a Nigerian partner

-Her content slowed down

-Engagement on her posts dropped

Many speculate she chose to focus on her personal life. Her last few videos didn’t hit like they used to—and now her page is nearly inactive.

7. Moya David

Moya David became a viral sensation by dancing in the streets and surprising women with roses and cake. His emotional, romantic content was a fresh twist in Kenyan TikTok.

-Amassed millions of views

-Landed endorsements and bookings abroad

-Launched his own spa business

By mid-2024, however, the charm began to fade. Viewers said the concept felt “too staged.” He now seems focused more on his businesses than content creation.
