Trials for the Tokyo World Athletics Championships will be held on Tuesday, 22nd of July, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex instead of on the 1st and 2nd of next month as earlier scheduled.

Invited athletes will be required to pick up their running bibs on Monday, 21st July.

In its statement released on Friday, they have been forced to change the date for the trials due to the unavailability of the Ulinzi Stadium on 1st and 2nd August.

Athletics Kenya has emphasised that participation will be done by invitation only and urged all athletes to plan according to the new date.

Only athletes who have met qualifying times and AIU requirements will compete during the trials.

Athletics Kenya is expected to select a formidable team for the 20th World Championships set for Tokyo, Japan, between 13th and 21st September this year.

Kenya will be targeting to improve its 2023 results in Budapest, Hungary, where it finished 5th overall with 3 gold, 3 silvers and 4 bronze medals.

10,000m men and 5,000m women trials for the Tokyo Championships will be conducted tomorrow at the Eugene Prefontaine Classic Diamond League Meet.
