Kambua’s Emotional Post on Son Nathaniel’s Graduation Touches Hearts

Kenyan gospel singer Kambua Manundu has proudly celebrated her son Nathaniel Muhoro’s graduation from kindergarten, marking yet another joyful milestone in her journey as a mother.

Nathaniel, affectionately known as Kambua’s miracle child, was born after seven years of childlessness and a deeply personal, public struggle to conceive.

At the time, the celebrated singer had been married for seven years and was beginning to lose hope of ever having a child.

His arrival marked the end of a long and painful season of waiting, ushering in a new chapter filled with gratitude, joy, and answered prayers.

To mark the special occasion, the mother of two shared an emotional post on social media, expressing her immense pride and heartfelt gratitude.

Using tender words to describe Nathaniel, she thanked God for the blessing that he is in her life. In her Instagram post, she wrote:

“Son, my son. The one who came after years of deep pain and public struggle. The fighter who at 34 weeks arrived weighing 1.65kg! My certified king of kosokoso. Mummy’s heart. My Nathaniel graduated from kindergarten today and I am SO proud! God is good! Year one, here we come.”

Kambua has been open in the past about the challenges she faced before motherhood, including the stigma and insensitive remarks she endured from society due to her delay in having children. She once shared how she was often asked, “Utazaa lini?” (When will you have a child?)—a question that brought her considerable pain.

“I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve to sensitise others about the things we say and the impact of our words. It’s not just on social media where people are unkind—it happens within our families, workplaces, and communities. Have you been a safe space for someone struggling with infertility or something else? If not, when you know better, you must do better,” she wrote, urging people to be more compassionate.

In a candid episode of her podcast, the award-winning singer further revealed the complexity of her motherhood journey. She shared that she would have been a mother to a six-year-old had she not suffered pregnancy loss.

“My name is Kambua. I am a mother of two—or three, or four. Nathaniel is four years old; he is my 1+. My baby boy Malachi would be two—he lives in heaven now. My first baby would have been six. So you see how complicated it is for angel mums to introduce themselves. Some people get it, others don’t—and that’s ok.”
