Ann Mwangangi Gets Calls from Gen Zs for Morgue Bookings Ahead Of June 25th Protests

In a bizarre turn of events highlighting the escalating tensions surrounding Kenya’s upcoming June 25th demonstrations, prominent mortician Ann Mwangangi has reportedly been left reeling after receiving an unprecedented number of calls, purportedly from young Kenyans planning to participate in the protests.

These calls, according to Mwangangi, were not for general inquiries but seemingly for bookings, leading her to believe that some demonstrators are anticipating the worst.

The shocking revelations came to light through a TikTok Live video clip where Mwangangi in a distressed voice, expressed disbelief and concern over the nature of the calls.

“How far do you take these jokes? At this point, are you okay?” Mwangangi questioned before opening the lid further.

The mortician revealed that she received more than almost 20 calls in a single day, with callers reaching out to her directly on her phoneand even going as far as contacting her hospital and where she works for inquiries.

“I’m telling you. Today you took my phone number. I had more than almost 20 calls. You guys are mad. You’re not okay. just feel like Kenyans, man. Let’s be safe. Okay. Somebody called my hospital. Somebody called where I work and they’re like, ‘Hi, are you okay?'”

Mwangagi even claimed that he received some money transactions from some Gen Zs who were booking for mortuary preservation after the June 25th protests.

“Someone even sent me Sh1,000 and told me he is paying in installments, I asked him what he was paying for, I thought he was paying for facial products, but he surprised me that he was paying for morgue!” Mwangangi revealed.

She didn’t stop there, she alleged to have received another call from somebody enquiring whether someone’s body could be transferred from Murang’a County to the medical facility she is working at.

The sheer volume and nature of the inquiries left Mwangangi deeply unsettled, leading her to issue a plea for Kenyans to stay safe, ahead of June 25th memorial protests.

The June 25th demonstrations are the latest in a series of protests primarily spearheaded by Kenya’s Gen Z population, ignited by public outrage over the proposed Finance Bill 2024.

These protests, which have gained significant momentum across the country, are a manifestation of widespread discontent regarding high taxation, perceived government corruption, and a lack of economic opportunities for young people.

What started as online activism swiftly moved to the streets, characterized by peaceful marches, creative protest signs, and a strong digital presence under hashtags like #RejectFinanceBill2024 and #OccupyParliament.

As June 25th approaches, Mwangangi’s plea for safety resonates, reminding everyone that beneath the political rhetoric and the protest chants, are real people with real fears.
