UFC Star Adesanya looks at a future beyond the octagon, following a spate of setbacks in fighting career

Following a recent setback in his illustrious fighting career, former UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya is looking towards a solid future beyond the octagon, with his family revealing a significant investment in property development.

This strategic move comes after “The Last Stylebender” suffered a second-round TKO loss to Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Fight Night 250 in Saudi Arabia this past February, marking his third consecutive defeat and dropping his record to 24-5.

Oluwafemi Adesanya, Israel’s father, took to Instagram to elaborate on the family’s decision, emphasizing the need for a robust retirement plan for his son.

He explained that property development was chosen for its tangibility and long-term value as an investment, allowing Israel to be actively involved and physically witness what he’s building.

“The idea is that after his fighting, Israel needs to have something solid as an investment so we decided that we were going to go for property development so that, one, he could physically see what he is putting together and, secondly, for his investment to be better protected,” Oluwafemi stated.

He further revealed that Israel has entrusted him with overseeing the project, confident in his father’s judgment and experience.

Addressing the workers involved in the multi-million dollar venture, Oluwafemi expressed gratitude, saying:

“You came up with good designs, everybody that took part in this project have put in their best effort. In recognition of that, it would not be proper if we took the keys and walked away. We have to honour you, and that is why we invited you all.”

Israel Adesanya, the 2019 New Zealand Sportsman of the Year, echoed his father’s sentiments, hailing his vision and initiative.

The 35-year-old acknowledged the significant challenges encountered during the $20 million (approximately Ksh 2.6 billion) project, commending the workers for their perseverance.

“My dad has said most of it this is his vision not just for me but for the family,” Adesanya remarked. “A project like this is not easy and I want to say thank you to my dad.

I just funded it; this is a guy who takes his time to be there daily and get in touch with everyone involved in this project. I come in here once in a while to have a look. I want to say thank you to my dad for his vision and I want to appreciate my mother for supporting him. You are now part of our extended family because of this project.”
