In a candid sit-down with media personality Oga Obinna, popular content creator Mayoyo opened up about his journey and the struggles that shaped him into the entertainer he is today.
He revealed that after high school, he pursued law. “If you don’t attain the minimum grade, you first become a paralegal, then proceed to university,” he explained. Although the course took him two years, he eventually dropped out due to financial reasons.
“My dad was the one supporting me, and I could see him struggling. My brother was also studying English Literature at Kenyatta University,” said the comic, adding that he holds deep admiration for his father.
Determined to relieve his father of the financial burden, the entertainer made a difficult decision. “I told my dad I wanted to earn my own money. At first, we disagreed, but eventually, it worked out. That’s when I dropped out,” he said.
During the conversation, the comic lightened the mood with a cheeky admission: “A lot of ladies compliment me about the gap in my teeth,” he said with a laugh.
When asked if he considers himself a content creator, he affirmed it without hesitation. He described himself as a multi-talented creative who makes comedy skits, runs dating shows, and co-hosts a couple’s channel with his wife.

He also spoke about how his passion for performance began in primary school. “There was an acting competition between school houses. I was in Blue House and ended up being the best actor. I didn’t even realise it—I was just being myself,” he shared.
That experience sparked a lifelong love for acting, which he pursued further in high school. “At Nyamagwa Boys, I joined drama club. I used to memorise scripts more than chemistry,” he said, laughing.
In 2016, his older brother was acting on KTN, but the returns were discouraging. The biggest challenge, he noted, was a lack of equipment.
“We didn’t have a phone or camera to shoot our content. We relied on a friend’s camera, but he would later delete our videos, and that made us give up,” he recalled.
Despite the setbacks, the content creator remained persistent. He remembered reaching out to fellow comedian Desagu in 2018 for a collaboration.
“He actually replied. We met up with a group of other creatives, including MCA Tricky. I really respect him,” he said.
Reflecting on his breakthrough, the TikToker shared how one of his videos unexpectedly went viral. “Funny enough, we hadn’t even put that much energy into it. But it blew up, and a lot of comedians reposted it.”
