Huawei Technologies Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to digital inclusion by donating 30 computers and a 60-inch Max Hub smart teaching screen to St. Steven’s Namasoli Secondary School in Khwisero, Kakamega County.

The donation, part of Huawei’s nationwide campaign to promote digital skills development in underserved communities, aiming to bridge the digital divide and equip learners with the essential tools needed for today’s technology-driven world.

The initiative was officially launched by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, who praised the contribution as a transformative step towards enhancing educational outcomes for students in rural Kenya.

“A heartfelt thank you to Huawei Technologies Kenya for donating computers and equipment to schools. This generous support empowers our students with essential ICT skills, giving them equal opportunities to thrive in the digital age. It will also reduce disparities in ICT literacy between rural and urban areas, giving all students a level playing field,” said Speaker Wetang’ula.

Khadija Mohammed, Huawei Kenya’s Media and Government Relations Director, outlined the broader vision behind the donation.

“In line with our vision of leveraging technology to transform lives, Huawei Technologies Kenya has donated computers and an ICT lab to support digital learning,” she stated, while also calling for partnerships and investments to build a robust ICT literacy foundation. “Together, we can nurture the next generation of workers who will drive Kenya’s vision of a thriving digital economy.”

Khadija stated that empowering students and teachers with access to modern digital learning tools lies at the core of Huawei’s initiative to promote digital skills development across the country.

As part of its mission to deliver inclusive, future-oriented digital solutions, the company has been establishing ICT labs throughout Kenya to empower communities and build technological resilience.
