New details have emerged surrounding the mysterious death of popular X influencer Albert Omondi Ojwang. Albert Ojwang’s final phone call captured his fear. Photo: Anthony Esiro. Source: Facebook Why was Ojwang arrested? Ojwang passed away after his arrest under circumstances that continue to stir public outrage and concern. The influencer was arrested in Migori and transported to Nairobi Central Police Station on June 7 over allegations of publishing false information on his social media platforms.  Did Ojwang fear for his life after arrest? A leaked audio recording of a phone call between Ojwang and a close friend has gone viral, painting a grim picture of a man consumed by fear and uncertainty as he was being taken into custody.

“Sielewi man, hata hawajanieleza man,” Ojwang said in a shaky voice when asked why he had been arrested. He mentioned being on his way to Central Police Station, his tone betraying his unease. The friend on the other end of the line tried to reassure him, promising to visit the next morning. However, that promise was never fulfilled as Ojwang died in custody before they could see him again. “Umewai kuwa ndani? How is it? I have never experienced this. Like will I be safe in there?” he asked during the call, voicing deep concern for his safety. His fear, now echoed by many online, has raised chilling questions about what really happened behind those cell doors. What did the police say about Ojwang’s death? According to an official statement from the National Police Service, Ojwang was indeed arrested and booked at the Nairobi Central Police Station.

However, the police appeared to dismiss claims that he was died in police custody. Instead, the statement alleged that Ojwang injured himself by hitting his head against the wall of his cell and was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since launched investigations into the incident. Listen to the leaked audio below: Here are some social media reactions to the news: @ZeeZag1: “Is extrajudicial killing now the norm in Kenya?” @OperationH28: “Post mortem isifanywe na government pathologists on this case!” @DiamondDk20: “They are back to killing Kenyans again how many more people will be killed.” @AbdiBobile: “Justice for Albert Ojwang.” @SenatorAbdi05: “Very Sad. May his soul rest in Peace.” @Blatta001: “The guy sounded very sober , there’s no way he injured himself. ”
