USIU-A Flames clash with ANU Panthers and Equity Hawks

Former Kenya Basketball Federation Women’s Premier League champions United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Flames will take on winless African Nazarene University (ANU) Panthers and holders Equity Bank Hawks this weekend.

The two matches, alongside other Men’s Premier League as well as men’s and women’s lower-tier matches, were moved to ANU due to the unavailability of Nyayo Gymnasium.

However, tomorrow’s matches pitting USIU-Tigers and University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror and the crunch match between former titleholders Ulinzi Warriors and Umoja Basketball set for 6pm and 8pm will be played at Nyayo.

Flames will be looking to bag maximum points in their two encounters and consolidate their spot in the top eight.

Panthers, on the other hand, will be out to secure their first victory and end their losing streak. They will also be hoping to regain their footing and revive their hopes of surviving a demotion to Division One. They have been courting relegation since the start of the season and must start winning if they still wish to play in the top tier next season.

USIU-A, who last won the title in 2015, will be looking to complete a double against Hawks, whom they beat in the first leg tomorrow.

However, they face an uphill task against the bankers who have been getting stronger with each match they play.

Equity will today take on UoN Dynamites, while Safe Spaces will play Stanbic Aces, who will be in action against Panthers tomorrow.

Panthers and their male counterparts, ANU Wolfpacks, who had some of their matches postponed, will play two matches today. Panthers will face Th3 Swish, while Wolfpacks will tackle National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix within hours of playing Flames and Tigers, respectively.

Former men’s Premier League champions Ulinzi Warriors will be out to avenge their first leg 54-68 loss to Umoja tomorrow. Warriors will also be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Uon Terror and revive their hopes of finishing in the top four. USIU-A Tigers will clash with Terror, while ANU Wolfpacks will welcome Equity Bank Dumas in their backyard.

Division One matches are also on the cards at different venues. National secondary schools girls champions Butere Girls will entertain Kisii University Vipers and Strathmore University Swords at home.
