YouTuber 2Mbili’s girlfriend, Jackie Ogaga, has reignited the debate on whether men should give their partners a monthly allowance as a way of thanking them for being in their lives.
This comes after the beauty, who is also the social media manager of content creator Oga Obinna, posted a photo of herself holding a bundle of Sh100,000 in one-thousand-shilling notes.

Ogaga made it clear in her post that the money came from her boyfriend, 2Mbili, as a monthly allowance for her partner.
She made the post on May 1 and joked that it was a bit late – meaning that normally the allowance should land in her purse before the end of the month, referring to the end of April.
“Girlfriend allowance came a bit late but I’m glad it’s here. Thanks so much, 2Mbili. Sh100k in it,” Ogaga boasted.

2Mbili snapped and posted it on his Instagram story adding that it came a little bit late because he was holding onto it to multiply.
Jackie Ogaga’s confession – if at all it’s true – reignites a debate that has been dominating social media spaces in Kenya for a while now, with some defending the right of women to be given allowances by their partners while others dismissing it as a Western phenomenon.
However, that is still an open debate and as it stands now, whether a man should give his girlfriend an allowance is a complex issue with diverse perspectives.
Some view it as a way to support her financially, while others see it as an outdated concept or a form of control.

But what is the meaning and importance of girlfriend allowance?
According to the Kigali Journal, the Bae Allowance refers to the money a man provides his girlfriend monthly for her miscellaneous needs.
This practice is often seen as a gesture of love and appreciation but for a long time, it has created its own supporters and detractors.
The debate remains open on whether girlfriend allowance is a good or bad practice in marriages and romantic relationships.
