Raila Odinga Jr. Overjoyed as He Spends Time at State House, Shares Snaps

Raila Odinga Jr, the son of veteran Kenyan politician Raila Odinga, had a moment to cherish as he visited State House during the state visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. Raila Odinga and Raila Odinga Jr. spend time at State House during Dutch royal visit.  The royal couple arrived in Kenya on Monday, March 17, for a four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Kenya and the Netherlands. The visit saw a gathering of distinguished guests at State House, where President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto played host to the Dutch royals. Among those privileged to experience the royal welcome was Raila Jr., who later shared his experience on social media.

Did Raila Jr enjoy State House visit? In the photos he posted, Raila Jr seemed to relish the experience, showing his appreciation for the unique opportunity. However, it was his playful caption that caught the attention of many Kenyans. Labelling one of the photos “Bondo,” he took a jab at critics who had previously mocked his father, Raila, following his loss to Ruto in the 2022 presidential election. After Raila’s loss, there were widespread sentiments that his political career had reached its end and that he would retreat to his rural home in Bondo, Siaya county. However, fate took a surprising turn when President Ruto and Raila entered into a pact to work together in a broad-based government, which has allowed the seasoned opposition leader to remain a central figure in Kenya’s political landscape. Raila Jr.’s caption, “Bondo,” was a tongue-in-cheek reminder to naysayers who believed his father’s political influence had diminished.

His playful dig symbolises the fluidity of Kenyan politics, where rivalries can quickly transform into alliances.
