Diaspora remittances slow in February to Ksh 49.3B

Kenyan abroad sent home a total of Ksh 49.3 billion last month which is a 10.5pc reduction when compared to January when inflows stood at Ksh 55.1 billion.

However, latest data by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) shows an increase in foreign inflows in twelve months of the year to February.

Cumulative inflows for the 12 months to February 2025 increased by 14.5pc to $4.96 billion compared to $4.33 billion in a similar period in 2024.

“The remittance inflows continue to support the current account and the foreign exchange market. The US remains the largest source of remittances to Kenya, accounting for 53pc in February 2025” said CBK.
