Kenya’s former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has gone viral online courtesy of American rapper, Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg excited Kenyans after sharing Rigathi Gachagua’s video. Which Gachagua video did Snoop Dogg share? The legendary rapper shared an old video of Gachagua before his impeachment. The video shows Gachagua during a media briefing at the deputy president’s official residence in Karen, Nairobi. Gachagua was going through a sheaf of papers while whistling. The politician was seemingly looking for a particular section and it was taking him a while to find it. In the longer version of the clip, Gachagua asked one of his aides to give him his notes shortly after.
The footage was filmed on Monday, October 7 2024, and by then, Gachagua’s relationship with President William Ruto was strained, and he was about to be impeached. In the explosive presser, Gachagua claimed innocence of the accusations levelled against him, including amassing unexplained wealth and promoting tribalism. The defiant politician further said that he would not resign, and would fight his impeachment to the end. He argued that he had not wronged the people of Kenya, had given his job his all and was always loyal to Ruto. Rigathi Gachagua fell out with President William Ruto. “Looking for the part of the story that says I’m the one to play with,” the on-screen text reads in the video shared by Snoop. The hip-hop mogul affirmed the message as he captioned it by writing: “You already know.” The post attracted hordes of Kenyans, who had this to say about the clip:
