Kithure Kindiki Warns Gachagua Not to Drag Him in Useless Political Debate: “Niko Busy”

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed his impeached predecessor Rigathi Gachagua’s attacks, urging Mt Kenya residents to ignore divisive politics. Kindiki stated that he wasn’t ready to be distracted by politics.  Kindiki warned former DP Rigathi Gachagua against dragging him into unnecessary political confrontations, saying he is focused on delivering results for Kenyans. Speaking at his Irunduni rural home, Kindiki took a swipe at Gachagua, whom he accused of engaging in disruptive politics instead of working for the people while in office.  “I see some people want us to engage in back-and-forth. I am busy. I am a man on a mission, and I am very focused. I am busy. I am not available. But let them be told to stop that bad behaviour and all this disrespect, they should know that we are not pushovers. He has met with five people, or perhaps 20, and they are boasting but we can call thousands of people,” Kindiki said. The DP made the remarks while hosting grassroots leaders from Embu, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi counties, where he dismissed claims by Gachagua that he was a mere “yes-man” in the government. Today, even if I was not the DP, I would support the development of this region,” he stated. The DP also reaffirmed that the government is committed to uplifting livelihoods and ensuring stalled projects are completed. Kindiki assured the public that the government had secured the necessary funds to complete stalled infrastructure projects, including roads, markets, and rural electrification. “I have good news for our people and bad news for the detractors… the government of Kenya now has money to revive and complete all stalled roads…kazi sasa ndio inaanza. In the next two years, our business will be to make sure we track all road projects,” he affirmed.  Amid the ongoing political tensions and realignments, Kindiki hinted at his homecoming ceremony in the coming weeks.
