Kiambu: Desperate Dad Offers KSh 10k Reward for Whoever Recovers Daughter’s Hearing Aid

A family in Limuru, Kiambu county, is appealing for help to recover their 3-year-old daughter’s hearing aid. Kiambu parents offer reward to whoever recovers their daughter Keren Nduta’s hearing aid. Paul Mbugua Kimani, the little girl’s father, told TUKO.co.ke that the device was lost at Free Pentecostal Churches in Limuru, and they have not been able to find it. He explained that Keren Nduta had the device on during the church service but lost it when she stepped outside the building. “We found her shocked, stuck, and confused. The service had just ended, and she was already outside without her hearing aid,” he said.

The worried father explained that his daughter had used the device for ten months and was always careful with it because she understood it was part of her hearing. “The gadget consists of an implant and an external device, which work together to ensure Keren can hear. It’s the external device which is connected magnetically that has disappeared,” he stated. Kiambu family offers KSh 10k reward Mbugua said they are offering a KSh 10,000 reward to anyone who helps them recover the hearing aid, given its high cost and the difficulty of obtaining it. “The device is very expensive, costing KSh 1.7 million. We hope we can find it and help Keren,” he said.

The father of the 3-year-old suspects that someone may have taken the device without realising its importance to the child. “It is very attractive and looks like a Bluetooth device, so someone who doesn’t understand may think she is just wearing a fancy gadget,” he explained. Was Keren Nduta born deaf? The distressed father revealed that his daughter was diagnosed with severe to profound bilateral hearing loss, meaning she was born unable to hear. “We discovered this when she was nine months old, and the doctors said we needed KSh 3 million for the procedure. We worked hard to make it happen, and she finally got the device,” Mbugua stated. He pleaded with Kenyans to help locate the device, assuring that the reward would be given upon its safe return.
