Media personality Ciru Muriuki has marked the first anniversary of her fiancé Charles Ouda’s passing with an emotional tribute, sharing the depth of her grief and the void left by his absence.

Ouda, a celebrated actor, director, and writer, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 38.

A Heartfelt Tribute

In a deeply personal social media post, Ciru expressed the immense pain of losing her fiancé, describing his passing as the most devastating experience of her life.

A year ago today, I learned what pain was. True, devastating, earth-shattering pain. And in the minutes, hours, days since, your absence has taught me yet another lesson; that you were truly the love of my life. I hate living without you. I hate not being able to see you.

She went on to recall the little things she missed about him—his voice, laughter, and the nicknames he would come up with for her.

Their creative bond and shared passion for storytelling had been an essential part of their relationship, making his absence even harder to bear.

I hate never hearing your voice, your laugh, whatever new nickname you conjured up for me. I hate not creating with you. I hate falling asleep without you. I hate waking up without you.

Ciru ended her tribute by acknowledging the harsh reality of life without him and reaffirming her love.

I hate that this is my reality now, this life sentence without parole. I hate that a year ago, the world lost one of its brightest stars. I love you, my king. Always. Always.

Ouda was a gifted artist whose work spanned acting, directing, and scriptwriting. Born and raised in Nairobi, his journey into the entertainment industry began right after high school.

His passion for performance led him to the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, where he honed his craft.

His talent shone through on stage, with his first major role in Lwanda, Man of Stone at the Kenya National Theatre making a lasting impact.

He later became a household name through his performances in popular local TV shows such as Better Days, Makutano Junction, and Changing Times.

Beyond acting, Ouda made significant contributions as a writer, director, and presenter. He worked on Know Zone, mentored aspiring musicians on Tusker Project Fame, and ventured into music, writing songs for the Coca-Cola Popstars group SEMA.

He also released his own single, Superstar, in collaboration with Dan Aceda.

A Future Cut Short

In 2023, Ouda proposed to Ciru Muriuki, and together they launched The Undiscovered Podcast, where they explored their love for storytelling.
