John Maina, the father of popular content creator Dada Sarah, alias Waweru Wa Maina, has addressed public scrutiny surrounding his son’s gender. Speaking during a homecoming event held in honour of Dada Sarah, Maina who revealed that he is a pastor in Kiambu, introduced himself and confirmed that Waweru is his child and is of the male gender. “My name is John Maina, and this here is my son. His name is Waweru. I am happy because I have also met our MP; I only see him on TV. I am also happy to see that Samidoh has come here,” Maina said.
Dada Sarah, known for embodying a Kikuyu mother in his humorous Kikuyu-language content, has faced criticism from netizens for his choice of attire and the character he portrays. Speaking to Kikuyu Nation TV, Dada Sarah also confirmed his gender. “I am a young man who is single and I have never dated but I have been on a one night stand while at a college party. However, I am now saved and waiting for marriage,” he said. Was Dada Sarah gifted KSh 1 million? The highlight of the event was a remarkable gesture by Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia, who gifted Dada Sarah KSh 1 million as a token of appreciation. The reward came after the content creator praised the MP during an Inooro TV interview for spearheading development projects in their constituency, including a law court and a Huduma Centre. Impressed by Waweru’s humility and constructive use of his platform, MP Kururia rallied 20 friends to raise KSh 1 million, which was presented at the event.
Kururia explained the motivation to reward Dada Sarah was because, unlike many other youths who spent their time insulting him, Dada Sarah had used his airtime and data in a constructive way. The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including, MP John Kiarie, gospel singer Karangu Muraya, businesswoman Damaris Wa Dama Spares, and Mugithi star Samidoh, who served as a police officer to ensure the smooth delivery of the funds.
