Martha Wanjiru, has waived rent for tenants who occupy her Rongai homes for January 2025. She has 44k followers on her social media account where she updates her fans on her life
“Happy New Year, oh my God. To all my Kenyan tenants, Happy 2025, May it be filled with blessings, and you know what, as you celebrate this January, this new year, kama unajua hakuna kufanya nini?”
“Hakuna kulipa rent,” her daughter answers her questions in the background.
Martha adds; “So no payment for the rent in January. So when you are celebrating, celebrate it to the fullest, take your kids back to school, like the rent money that you do take to pay me in January, take take it for your kids, if you don’t have kids, use it for your family or if you have something that you want to use it for We bless you with that money.”
She also suggested that they too could spread the cheer in their own individual way.
“Thank you so much for being wonderful tenants we thank you thank you so much. so for 2025 we wish you all the best. And Njeri, ukibarikiwa, pia wewe kumbuka kufanya nini? Exactly. So if you can do it. Happy 2025,” she said.
“We paid January rent for all my tenants and also gave money for shopping,”
“So last time I saw how much we spent for cooking, so I said instead of cooking again this year, there are children going back to school, the need pocket money, they need kidogo shopping, those who don’t have children, polenisan, waanze kutafuta mapema,” she said as some laughed.
She continued; “Anyway I said instead of using that money to cook , I will give each house, each portion,” she said as she began distributing envelopes.
Her announcement was greeted with ululations and shouts of wow.
