Claris Mghoi has given a heart-wrenching recount of the events leading to her father’s tragic death. Claris was in Kericho when she received news that her father had been attacked.

Claris, whose father Elijah Matoke, died after being doused with acid, detailed the moment she received a call that forever altered her life. Call that changed Claris’s life In a video on MtaaWangu, the crestfallen daughter disclosed that she was in Kericho when she received troubling news from home.

The caller asked her to rush to a hospital in Nakuru as something terrible had happened to her father. Overwhelmed by panic and uncertainty, she hurriedly boarded a vehicle home, unaware of the devastation awaiting her.  “What I saw in the house was heartbreaking,” Claris said through tears. “There was a charred blanket with bits of my father’s flesh.”

Claris recounts father’s last moments Claris recounted the painful final moments she shared with her father at the hospital. “He called out to me and said, ‘My daughter, hold my hand and take me home.’ Those were his last words,” she said. Claris admitted that as much as her father had severe injuries, she didn’t expect him to die.

Elijah Matoke, a 52-year-old resident of Nakuru, succumbed to severe injuries after being attacked with acid, allegedly by his wife. How was Matoke attacked? The chilling incident occurred while Matoke was lying on his bed at home. Neighbours, alerted by his desperate screams, found him in critical condition.

Lilian Magomera, a neighbour, vividly recalled the harrowing cries from the victim as he sought help. “We heard him screaming, ‘Woi, ninakufa, wamenimaliza’ (I am dying, they have finished me),” she said.  Upon rushing to the scene, she found Matoke with severe burns.
