A 65-year-old Nyeri man has undergone circumcision after it came to the attention of the elders in the community that has never gone through the expected rite per Kikuyu customs.
An elderly man shocked his peers after it was discovered he has never been circumcised. Details indicate that the man’s condition was discovered after his lover reported him to the elders after she discovered he was not initiated in his teenage years.
A report by Inooro FM indicated that the elders planned for the elderly man to undergo the rite, which was carried out successfully. He is currently recuperating at home under the caring watch of his wife.
The elders were particularly disappointed with the 65-year-old as he was part of the elders (Kiama) in the community without having been circumcised in his entire life. “My name is Gerald Kung’u from Kieni.
We were so shocked because one of us, a 65-year-old, was uncircumcised for all these years. We have been together as friends, and we did not know.When we got the reports, we went to confirm and later we accompanied him for the process. “He is at home recuperating as his wife takes care of it until he is back on his feet,” one the elders told Kameme FM while also expressing his dismay.
