A young man from Nairobi county has uniquely expressed gratitude to his loving mother. .Brian Ombati, who graduated from Pwani University, celebrated his single mother by giving her his graduation gown to wear. Where was Ombati raised? Ombati, raised in Kibera slums, vividly narrated the challenges he faced in his education journey while praising his mother.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Ombati disclosed he did well in his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) despite several challenges. “I struggled in my secondary education as I moved from one high school to another.

However, that did not discourage me from working hard and in school. I finally did well in my KCSE and was lucky enough to join the university,” he recalled.  When did Ombati lose his dad? Ombati joined Pwani University in 2021, excited for his next chapter in the education journey.

However, a year into his admission, tragedy struck the young man’s family, which changed his life. “I lost my dad, who was the breadwinner. With him gone, I remained with my unemployed mother. She could not raise money for my expensive school fees due to the lack of employment,” he added. What did Ombati study? Ombati noted that this was not the only stumbling block, as his mother also faced rejection from friends and some family members.

She did not have a strong support system but never gave up on her kids as she worked hard to care for them. “Looking at that, I just decided to work hard and ensure I graduate as a language, speech and language pathologist. I specialize in matters of language. I gave that gown to my mum because she didn’t have a chance to graduate,” he revealed.
