He said there is no need to have divisions and unhealthy competition, reiterating that leaders should unite and develop the country.
“Ugomvi haina maana, mashindano haina maana sisi wote we have one country to serve and one people, the people of Kenya to serve,” he said.
“Let us see how we can work together as business leaders, political leaders, spiritual leaders, let us work together for the greater good of the Republic of Kenya.”
He was speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational service at Kapsitet Primary School in Kericho.
Ruto said it is the duty and responsibility of all leaders and Kenyans at large to make Kenya greater.
He expressed confidence that all Kenyans will unite and work together because “we have a common purpose and a common destination with one aspiration”.
Ruto condemned those who have been involved in “useless” politics and campaigns for the 2027 elections, saying leaders soon first serve the citizens before engaging in the former.
“Let us first serve Kenyans. Elections will be held in 2027. There are still three years to go and if you start now, you will have no momentum left for then,” he said.
He stated that the church and the state are partners in working for Kenyans, urging that the partnership should have common interest in all engagements.
This comes a week after Ruto committed to improving his administration’s delivery of election promises in the next three years.
He said his government had moved past politics of backstabbing, blackmail, arrogance, and infighting.
“We have eliminated the politics of chest-thumping, infighting and power struggles over political heavyweight status. I assure Kenyans that the remaining years will be focused purely on development,” Ruto said during a Sunday service in Embakuli Church of God in Kakamega County.
The President said his broad-based government is the solution to earlier challenges, expressing optimism about a unified approach to governance and development across key sectors.
“We are united as Kenyans and committed to development. Kenyans will start seeing changes in infrastructure, agriculture, health, and education,” he said.
The President noted that Kenyans elect leaders based on their performance, urging leaders to focus on delivering results instead of engaging in regional or factional rivalries.
“Kenyans will decide who to elect based on track records. We do not want politics of infighting or regional coalitions. Leaders should focus on serving the people, and Kenyans will reward performance and reject complacency,” Ruto said.
